Our Assessment: The P226 is a time-tested platform that has seen use in militaries and law enforcement agencies alike. With its reputation for reliability and durability, you can’t go wrong with it. It was developed for U.S. military trials when the military wanted a 9mm service pistol and only lost the bid because of the total package price. While it did not win the contract, the U.S. Navy Seals liked what they saw and decided to adopt the pistol.
Designed to dominate in the fast-paced world of IPSC shooting, the P226S X-Five Competition is already a proven winner in competition with Germany’s Max Weigand capturing the Super Senior Division titles at the 2004 IPSC European Championships and the IPSC World Shoot in 2005. The X-Five Competition model features all-stainless construction, ergonomic beavertail grip, standard single-action trigger, ambidextrous thumb safety, magwell, adjustable sights and polymer grips.
