Markings: The left side of the frame is marked “WITNESS / EAA – COCOA – FLA” and “FT-IT-2020”. The left side of the slide is marked “GOLD CUSTOM ERIC 2007”. The chamber visible through the ejection port is marked with two Italian proof marks and “CAL. 9X19”. The right side of the frame is marked “READ WARNINGS / BEFORE USING GUNS” under the safety, “EAA00795”, with the date code, and Italian proofs. The right side of the slide is marked with proofs and “CAL. 9X19”. The top of the slide is marked with the serial number.

Barrel Length: 5″, 5 3/4″ to Permanently Installed Single Port Compensator

Sights / Optics: There are no iron sights. The frame has four empty drilled and tapped holes on each side for installing an optic mount.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered alloy Tanfoglio panels. The panels are free of any notable wear of damage. The checkering is strong. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition. The front and back strap have sharp checkering.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the polygonal rifling is strong. There is no erosion in the bore. In my opinion, this bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are light handling marks. There is light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The installed barrel is for factory ammo. The additional barrel with the two-port compensator is for non-factory ammo. The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching Tanfoglio hard case, a single 18-round magazine, and an additional barrel. The additional barrel has V-12 porting and a two port compensator. This barrel is for MAJOR power factor ammo. The bore is bright, the polygonal rifling is strong, and there is no erosion. In my opinion, this bore is a 10 out of 10. Note, no magazine will be included if prohibited by your local laws.

Our Assessment: Drawing significantly from the design of the CZ-75, the Tanfoglio Witness shares many of that pistol’s qualities including a slide-in design which allows for less reciprocating mass and a lower bore axis. This is the Gold Custom Eric, named after Eric Grauffel, French IPSC shooter and multiple time champion. The pistol the comfortable ergonomics we have all come to expect from the Tanfo line and comes all set up for OPEN division. The gun has a compensator and a V-12 ported barrel to help keep it shooting like a laser beam and the fine folks at Tanfoglion even included two barrels, one for factory ammo and one for “non-factory” ammo (we all know this means MAJOR PF) ammo. With these two barrels you could really shoot the single port in Steel Challenge with your steel load and take the two port barrel to USPSA/IPSC events. The frame is drilled and tapped to accommodate the optic and gas pedal of your choice. The gun looks the part and is dripping head to toe in hard chrome. The action is smooth, the grip frame is ergonomic, the slide has forward and rear serrations…though you will likely be using the included slide racker. This is an all-around fun pistol well suited to competitors needs. This pistol is in Excellent condition I wonder if it ever even hit the range. Please see our pictures and good luck!
