Markings: The bottom of the frame is marked “STI INTERNATIONAL / GEORGETOWN, TX USA”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and “2011”. The right side of the chamber is marked “CAL .355”. The bottom of the magazine well is marked with the “STI” logo. The right side of the slide is marked “JV” and “355 LIGHTNING”. The sides of the hammer and the left side of the sight base are marked with the “JVI” logo.
Barrel Length: 5 1/4” Barsto barrel with Permanently attached compensator. 6 3/4? to Compensator.
Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The frame has been installed with a JVI rail which secures a C-More RTS2 red dot. The sight has no major defects and functions properly, it is in Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is textured black polymer with a stippled pattern and is marked “STI” on the flanks. There are smooth diamonds around the grip screws. The trigger guard has a single undercut. There are some light handling marks. The texturing is very aggressive and produces great grip. The grip rates in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon)
Finish Originality: Original to Customization.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks. A few freckles in the finish can be seen throughout the slide. The magazine well has some scattered nicks and marks from normal use. There is light handling and operational wear. The screwheads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The grip safety is deactivated and pinned. This pistol has an ambidextrous extended thumb safety, skeletonized trigger, full-length guide rod, and the grip safety has a rise to index one’s palm correctly each time. The slide and frame have superb mating. The action works correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the previously described C-More, a Gun Guard hard case, one MBX 20-round magazine, two STI 20-round magazines, one STI 25-round magazine, and a print out list of all custom parts from JV Industries.
Our Assessment: The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985, through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as a reliable handgun with plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. The design is one of the most beloved and has gone through many design changes such as modular double stack frames, accessory rails, and optic provisions like this 2011. It was customized by JV Industries with notable features such as an STI barrel with T2 compensator, CiMore RTS2 red dot sight, and sidewinder style slide racker. The trigger is crisp as grandma’s saltines and the reset is almost imperceptibly short.
