Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The yoke cut is marked “BEZ8188 / MOD 16-4” and the yoke is marked “549”. The left side of the frame is marked with the S&W trade mark logo. The right side of the frame is marked with the four line Marcas Registradas address and the right side of the barrel is marked “32 MAGNUM”. The Butt is marked “BEZ8188”. The left side of the grip frame is marked “C7”, a Circle “U”, “3135” and a Triangle “H”. Two circular paper labels are present which read “19” and “40”. The right side of the grip frame is marked “3838” and “549”.

Barrel Length: 4” unpinned with Full Length Top Rib and Full Length Underlug

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Patridge style blade pinned to the serrated raised ramp on a solid rib. The rear sight is an S&W micrometer click square notch adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are Goncalo Alves wooden Combat grips with silver colored S&W medallions on each side at the top. The front surfaces have finger grooves and the left panel has a speed loader cut. A small mark into the wood is visible in the finger groove on the left panel and a notable mark in the wood can be seen on the butt of the right panel. The grips rate in about Fine to Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. Finish thinning is visible at the muzzle, and thin drag lines appear on the cylinder, otherwise only light handling marks are visible. The case coloring on the trigger and hammer is vivid. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly in both single and double action. It is equipped with a .500” wide target hammer and a serrated .400” wide semi-target trigger with an adjustable trigger stop. We did not fire this handgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A blank product registration card, an ‘Action Package’ brochure and a warranty card are included in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This is a Smith & Wesson Model 16-4, the K-32 Masterpiece with a 4” barrel in Excellent condition. There were only about 8,800 made in the combined three barrel lengths (4”, 6” and 8 3/8”) making them collectable as well as shootable. This revolver is equipped with the appropriate Goncalo Alves Combat grips and has a pinned front sight. In addition to chambering .32 H&R Magnum it also fires .32 S&W and .32 S&W long, so you can use it for self-defense, target and casual shooting.
