Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion but there is stubborn lead fouling in the grooves next to the lands. This bore will rate 10 out of 10 in my opinion once the lead fouling is cleaned out.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are some scattered scuffs that have caused smooth spots to the matte stainless, most noticeable on the dust cover. There is a bit of finish wear on the edges of the controls. There are scattered light handling marks. The markings are clear. The pins are unmarred. Overall, this pistol is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics:
The action functions correctly. This pistol has a decocker ONLY, it does not function as a safety. The single-action trigger is crisp, the double action is smooth and the reset is short. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This pistol comes with a two 8-round magazines, a serial matching case, and paperwork including the manual.

Our Assessment:
The 4500 model pistols are Smith & Wesson’s ‘Third Generation’ series, replacing the previous .45 models. Features incorporated in these pistols include a fixed barrel bushing, greatly improved trigger pull, 3-dot sights, improved wraparound grips, and beveled magazine well. This Model 4566 CQB from the Smith & Wesson Performance Center. This model was made in 1998 was distributed by Lew Horton. It features a single stack frame, DA/SA action, ambidextrous decocker, 4? match grade barrel, and front and rear slide serrations. The Performance Center craftsmanship speaks for itself, the single action is crisp with a short reset and the double action is smooth, plus the slide and frame are superbly mated and snug. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, about 96% of the finish remains. If you are looking for a .45 Cal carry gun this should fit the bill, but in such great shape, this rare Smith is sure to be on the radar of the collectors. Please see our photos and good luck!

Some are hot, some are not, but thankfully most can be shot!
