Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “22-250 Rem.” The top of the barrel is marked “H-S Precision”. The left side of the receiver is marked “B6514142 / Remington MODEL 700”. The bolt is marked “4142”. The recoil pad is marked “H-S Precision”. The scope is marked “LEUPOLD / VARI-X III 6.5×20”.
Barrel Length: The fluted heavy barrel is 26” long and measures 0.939” at the muzzle and is free floated all the way to the receiver.
Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The receiver is drilled and tapped, mounted with a two piece Leupold Mark 4 ring and base system. The rings are holding a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20 power scope with a 40mm front objective, sunshade and two rubber caps. The scope has a Mil Dot reticle with a sharp, bright picture. There is no apparent damage to the objectives or internal workings. The scope and mounting system rate in about Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The synthetic Pro-Series stock is aluminum block bedded and features an ambidextrous palm swell at the pistol grip and features a fluted comb. From the H-S Precision catalog: “Pro-Series stocks are hand laiminated using hybrid composite materials and proprietary manufacturing techniques. These composites, including Kevlar, unindirectional carbon fiber, fiberglass, epoxy-based gel coats and laminating resins and structural polyurethane foam reinforced with milled fiberglass, are molded around our unique CAD/CAM bedding block system.” There are only very light scuffs and scratches that blend in with the gray and black-splattered stock. The LOP measures 13-3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the lightly curved H-S Precision recoil pad. The pad has a black spacer and only exhibits minor scuffs. It is supple and intact. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Matte Black with a Jeweled Bolt.
Finish Originality: All Original as Modified
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. From the H-S Precision factory report: “Barrel# K0515-3 / Caliber# 22-250 REM / Twist: 1/14 / Bore: .2191 / Groove: .2239 / Functioning: X”. . There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows very light and sparse scuffs and scratches. There are notable scuffs and scratches at the muzzle and on top of the barrel. There is light wear and loss of finish on interacting portions of the bolt and chamber. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger breaks at at an average 2 pounds, 14oz. The action is smooth and locks up very solidly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Leupold scope and mounting system as described above in “Sights / Optics”. Also included is Leupold paperwork, H-S Precision receipts and a sales pamphlet. There are bench-rest targets that have some exceptional groupings as pictured. All accessories rate in about Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is a custom order precision rifle from H-S Precision, built on the legendary Remington 700 action. The stock is very sturdy, free floats the barrel and is made of multi-composite materials. The provided scope is very bright and sharp, with a Mil Dot reticle, mounted with Leupold’s Mark 4 ring and base system. The rifle is chambered in .22-250 Remington and built to Match Grade specifications. .22-250 is an effective precision and varminting round and with this setup, can either punish an army of paper targets or gophers.
