The finish looks reapplied, but sanding was light and good fit was preserved. There are a handful of marks and dings throughout, nothing egregious. Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is a light gray and the rifling is a little worn. There is mild erosion in the bore. In this writers opinion and for the age, this bore rates about a 5 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 65% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some typical Winchester flaking to the cap, ring and frame. There is thinning to the underside of the frame from handling. Scattered surface marking also exists, but the rifle was well cared for. The screw heads are attractive. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Our Assessment: The Winchester 1894, also known as the Winchester Model 94, is a lever-action rifle that was first introduced in 1894. It was designed by John Moses Browning, one of the most famous firearms designers in history. The Winchester 1894 was produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and became one of the most popular hunting rifles in the United States.

The Winchester 1894 was chambered in a variety of calibers, including .32-40, .38-55, .25-35, .30-30, and .32 Winchester Special. It has a lever action mechanism that allows for quick and easy cycling of the rifle, making it a favorite among hunters and shooters.

The Winchester 1894 was also used in a number of historical events, including the Spanish-American War and World War I. It was a favorite of President Theodore Roosevelt, who used it on hunting trips in the western United States.

It was produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company until 2006, when production ceased due to declining demand for lever-action rifles. However, the company was purchased by the Belgian firearms manufacturer FN Herstal, which resumed production of the Winchester 1894 in 2010.

This is a special gun, literally. There are quite a few special order features and very little to disappoint a good collector.

Good luck bidding!

Chris
