Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a beautiful two-piece checkered Turkish walnut with a schnabel tip forend, pistol grip with a right-hand palm swell, straight comb, and black rubber buttpad. The forends each have some light draglines and light compressions. The heaviest wear is on the .410 forend at the rear and there is also some thinning. The buttstock has some scattered compressions and draglines, the deepest mark is on the right side. There are a few scattered light marks through the finish. There are some scattered light handling marks. The checkering is mostly sharp with a few light handling marks. The LOP is 15″ from the front of the trigger to the rear of the pad and can be adjusted to 14 3/4″. The Guerini pad has some scattered light wear from normal use. The drop at comb is 1 3/8″ and the drop at heel is 2 1/8″, the drops are consistent across the three barrel sets. Overall, the stocks rate in about Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Blued & Coin with Invisalloy Protective Finish

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bores are all bright. There are a few areas of stubborn fouling but there is no erosion. In my opinion, these four bores rate 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The receiver has some scattered handling marks. There are some small spots of dark discoloration on the top tang and on the trigger guard. The trigger guard has some light draglines. The 410 barrel set has some light handling marks. The 28 and 20 gauge sets each have some finish loss on the edge of the muzzle and there are a few little tiny marks through the finish toward the front. There are a few little light rubs on the 28 and 20 gauge sets. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun has an upper tang mounted safety & barrel selector, it does not set automatically but functions correctly when manually set. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a gray hard case, the previously described chokes, and paperwork including the manual.

Our Assessment: The Maxum Sporting is truly a stunning over/under shotgun. The deep relief gothic scroll hand finished engraving on the receiver, side plates, and fore-end assembly make this sporting gun unique among others on the clays course. The handwork and design are from the studios of the world renowned Italian engraving house, Bottega Incisioni C. Giovanelli. The coin finish frame is painstakingly hand polished. Balancing the beauty of the deeply sculpted engraving is a deluxe grade of Turkish walnut, featuring precision cut 26 lines-per-inch checkering and a natural oil finish, hand rubbed to a sheen that enhances the highly figured wood grain. The Maxum Sporting is available in 12 gauge as a standard offering; 12 gauge models feature the Maxis Bore/Choke System and are offered in barrels up to 34” for the serious competitor. 20, 28 and combination two-barrel sets in 20/28 gauge and three barrel sets in 20/28/410 are also available. This is s 20/28/410 set and is a great sporting setup that can tackle any obstacle at the range. The engraving and stocks are world class, a true piece of art. Please see our pictures and good luck.

Some are hot, some are not, but thankfully most can be shot!
