Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning lightly at a few edges. The action shows faint operational wear, mostly in the lead-in grooves of the cylinder stop notches. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this revolver is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The mainspring has been lightened, resulting in a light, smooth hammer pull. This revolver’s cylinder has a removable bushing and the frame is the “black powder” type with the base pin retained with a screw at the front of the frame. The lockup produces almost no play on all six chambers. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a two-piece blue cardboard Colt box with an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, and a cable lock. A certificate of authenticity is included from Peacemaker Specialists which indicates that their action work was performed in 2013.
Our Assessment: Everyone should have a Colt Single Action Army, and this would be a nice one to add to any collection. Manufactured in 2007, this revolver is chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge. It is neat for the collector as it has the “black powder” style frame with the cylinder pin retained by a screw rather than a sprung transverse pin and the ejector rod tab is the “bullseye” type. Rounding out the early features is a case hardened hammer and no “rampant colt” logo on the frame. The 5 1/2? barrel is a nice balance between the handiness of the 4 3/4″ and the sight radius of the 7 1/2″. The gun is in Excellent condition with 98% of its metal finish and a great bore. The revolver comes in a blue Colt box with manual and has been equipped with an attractive faux-stag grip (the original grips are included). Even better, the gun has been to Peacemaker Specialists, the premier outfit for just about any kind of work you could want done on your Single Action Army. This is THE classic sixgun in the classic SAA cartridge that would be just as great for the collector as for the shooter. Please see our photos and good luck!
