Markings: The right side of the slide is marked with the Cylinder & Slide moustache logo at the rear. The right side of the frame is marked “CYLINDER & SLIDE INC., FREMONT NE / E1000013”. The left side of the slide is marked “TRIDENT” and with the Cylinder & Slide moustache logo at the rear. The chamber is marked “C&S .45ACP”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a Heinie square notch with a serrarted rear face and vertical front face, it is dovetailed to the rear of the slide. The lamp has a dimmed slightly but still has a strong glow and is still useable in low-no light environments.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered G10 Rhinohide panels. There are light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition. The frontstrap and mainspring housing are stippled.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore but there are some spots of stubborn fouling.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few freckles of minor discoloration, most noticeable under the “E” on the left of the slide. There is a bit of wear on the bottom of the slide in front of the dust cover. There are a few little scuffs and rubs. There are light handling marks. There is standard operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide-to-frame fit shows almost no play. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Bill Laughridge has always had an interest in guns and started off doing small gunsmithing projects, running a gun department at a sporting goods store, and building and fixing 1911s for IPSC competitors. He was good enough at building up their guns that he opened Cylinder & Slide Inc. in November 1978. He promoted Cylinder & Slide by buying a special built shop trailer and traveling to most of the major IPSC matches and repairing the competitors race guns so they could continue shooting. For 18 years he traveled coast to coast with his trailer doing this, he has since settled at home in Nebraska but never stopped building some of the finest guns on the market. This is the Trident model from C&S and it has a host of features that are built up on a C&S Government model Race Ready frame with a 3-slot rail, it has a recessed plunger tube slot, classic style open window under grips, C&S recon radius slide, front and rear cocking serrations, an internal polish and deburred frame and slide, radiused and tensioned extractor, cut bullet nose relief on the front of the ejection port, stippled front strap and mainspring housing, extended ejector mainspring housing with integral lanyard loop, C&S medium aluminum solid smooth face match trigger with blind over travel stop, Heinie 1911 ledge rear sight, a C&S front sight with a Trijicon dot installed, C&S trident beavertail grip safety with palm swell and pond, C&S tactical ambi thumb safety, their 24/7/365 Professional fire control set, a trigger job, G-10 Rhinohide green/black grips, GI style recoil spring plug, forged slide stop for glove use, round all external corners and edges, on/off safe indicators, and NP3 finish.
