Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1894 Trapper, made in 1980 with a 16” round barrel chambered in .30-30 Win. The 30-30 Win. has likely taken more deer in America than any other cartridge except maybe .30-06 and the model 1894, or simply 94 as it is now known, is one of the most popular rifles ever chambered for the round. The shorter 16″ barrel of the Trapper model makes it light and fast-handling, and when coupled with the .30-30 cartridge makes it a great rifle for hunting in thicker brush or when you’re in black bear country. This example appears to have seen minimal use, and with its great bore and strong mechanics it should still have a lot of field use left in it. That said, in its high condition and with its original box, it will also make a nice addition to a Winchester collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
