Markings: The left of the barrel is marked “KIMBER MFG. INC. YONKERS, NY, USA 375 H&H MAG CAPRIVI” and has “P” at the chamber. The left of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “Kimber 8400”. The underside of the bolt handle is matched and hand inscribed “157”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white beaded blade set in a serrated ramped base that is fixed to the barrel and installed with a protective hood. The rear sight is a fixed “V” notch express sight fixed to the barrel and there are two other flippable leaves. The top of the receiver is installed with a pair of bases and rings holding Leupold VX3 1.75-6×32 scope. The scope has some scattered light handling marks. The scope has a duplex reitcle and the glass is crystal clear. The scope rates in about Excellent condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a checkered AA French Walnut stock with a pistol grip, straight comb, cheekpiece, two recoil lugs, steel grip cap, red rubber buttpad, sling stud in the belly, and an ebony nosecap. There are a few compressions, the most noticeable are on the right side between the recoil lugs and on the belly. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. There are some scattered light handling marks. The LOP measures approximately 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the rear of the pad. The pad has no major defects. The stock rates in Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few scuffs and light nicks, the most noticeable are on the trigger guard and floorplate. There are some little spots of discoloration on the bolt knob. There is light handling wear and some faint operational wear. The screw heads are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle has a three-position safety and a claw extractor. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Introduced by Kimber in 2008, the 8400 Caprivi is a premium dangerous game hunting rifle. It combines some of the most desirable features such as a 3-position safety, controlled feed bolt, matte blued steel finish, and a classy AA grade French Walnut for a rilfe that will look just as good as it performs. The rifle features a 24? barrel chambered for .375 H&H Magnum and has express sights. This one has light handling wear and looks like it was hardly ever out of the safe. All this beautiful rifle needs is ammo and a tough shoulder. Please see our photos and good luck!
