Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “HENRY’S PATENT OCT. 16, 1860” and the serial number “AL108”. The right side of the barrel is marked with two Italian proof marks, the date code “AZ” and “CAL. 44-40”. The right side of the receiver is marked “LINCOLN / PRESIDENT / U.S.A.” in an oval focal point for engraved foliate design that covers the top and sides of the receiver and the buttplate. The lower tang is marked “CAT. 1559”, Italian proof marks, “T.G.A. HOUSTON, TEXAS / A. UBERTI – ITALY” and the serial number “AL108”.

Barrel Length: 24 1/4”, Octagonal

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade slotted to a collar in front of the magazine extension. The top rear of the barrel has an empty dovetail slot. The rear sight is a ladder-style sight dovetailed to the top of the receiver. It presents a “V”-notch when folded down. When folded up the slider has a “V”-notch and the ladder is graduated from 2-8 in hundreds of yards. There is a “U”-notch at the top edge of the ladder.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece smooth wood featuring a straight wrist, a straight comb and a crescent buttplate. There are several light scratches, nicks and compressions scattered on the stock. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are some light scratches and handling marks on the buttplate. The stock is in Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is light operational wear on the hammer face and no other notable wear or damage. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly however, the bolt is tight which makes the lever difficult to articulate when the hammer is down. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a wooden display case with a commemorative plaque and relevant paperwork.  The case has two locks with keys but one of the locking mechanisms has come loose from the wood and is kept separately in the case awaiting repair.

Our Assessment: The Abraham Lincoln Limited Edition Henry Repeating Rifle by The American Historical Foundation is a beautiful replica of the Henry 1860 made by Uberti. Fully functional and chambered in .44-40 Winchester, this rifle is a reminder of one of the few presentation-grade Henry’s ever made that was presented to Abraham Lincoln, which is now a priceless part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.. The American Historical Foundation commissioned a total of 250 all with the prefix “AL” for Abraham Lincoln. With so few available, this is a rare opportunity for your collection.
