The checkering is well defined, mostly sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has some scattered brown residue and minor wear with well defined checkering. Overall, the stock is in Very Good-plus condition.

Type of Finish: Blue & Black Alloy Bottom Metal

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. Our gauge shows an ME of about 1.0.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges, most notable on the bottom metal. There are a few scattered minor marks. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the rear of the bolt. Pulled to the rear, the safety is ON, locking both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed scope base.

Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight rifle chambered for the classic .30-06 cartridge and made in 1956. The rifle appears to have seen limited and gentle use, retaining about 97% of its metal finish with a great bore and strong mechanics. It comes with a Burris Fullfield 3-9x scope as well as its factory iron sights. Ammunition for this rifle is readily available in a variety of loadings and makes for a wonderful hunting rifle that can take just about any game in North America. Whether you’re looking to add to your Winchester collection or just want a great hunting rifle, this will be a great rifle to add to any safe in America. Please see our photos and good luck!
