Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are integral to the frame; the sides are textured, the fore and back straps are checkered, the forward portion has rails for mounting accessories. Installed to the grip is a stippled rubber Hogue sleeve with finger grooves on the front strap. The frame has a small, very faint arc of wear under the safety on either side from use of the decocker but is without any other notable wear or damage. The frame rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Black Slide, Black Polymer Frame

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the polygonal rifling is well defined. There is no erosion in the bore but there is stubborn fouling in the grooves .

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The barrel has light-moderate operational wear. This pistol looks to have been used infrequently and was well taken care of in the interim. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double-action trigger is smooth and the single-action trigger has a smooth takeup followed by a crisp break. The trigger has an over-travel stop screw. The pistol’s ambidextrous frame safety doubles as a decocker and the underside of the trigger guard has an ambidextrous magazine release. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The pistol comes in a H&K case with a manual, test brass, an installed picatinny accessory rail, and one 10-round magazine.

Our Assessment: The Expert version of the USP was introduced in 1998 as an accurized version of the USP with a longer barrel and sight radius, rubber o-ring for positive and tight lockup, and adjustable target sights. You’re unlikely to find a more accurate production .45 Auto outside of the semi-custom 1911 manufacturers. Even then, you won’t have a 10-round flush-fit magazine nor the simple, easy to maintain design of the USP. It is in Excellent condition and is ready to hit the range, defend the home, or even be carried (though not likely to be concealed on the person).
