Markings: The left of the slide is marked “NIGHT DEFENDER / -SERIES 90-” bookended by rampant colts, the right is marked “LIGHTWEIGHT”. The right of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and with the serial number. The left of the trigger guard has a “VP” in triangle proof and “Y” inspection mark. The top of the barrel at the chamber is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO-“. The right of the trigger guard is marked “T”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed to the front of the slide, the rear sight is a Novak square-notch dovetailed and screw-set to the back of the slide with two white dots. The lamp has dimmed significantly.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece semi-checkered laminate wood panels with Colt logos. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has very little play to the frame. The trigger has just a little bit of creep. This pistol has a Series ’80 style firing pin safety. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards

Our Assessment: This is a Colt Night Defender Lightweight, a Talo Exclusive Officer’s-model 1911-style pistol chambered in .45 ACP. This example is in Excellent condition showing little sign of use. A lightweight, compact pistol chambered for the potent .45 cartridge and with a 1911 trigger will make for a great concealed carry pistol
