Markings: The right side of the barrel is marked “S.&W.357 MAGNUM” and the left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The yoke cut is marked with the serial number over “MOD. 65-5”. The left side of the frame has an S&W logo. The right side of the frame is marked with the four line “Marcas Registradas” address. The butt of the grip frame is marked with the serial number. The yoke and sides of the grip frame are marked with inspection marks. The sideplate is marked “Lady Smith”. The ejector rod cutout in the underlug is marked “S”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade set on the rib. The front sight has been painted by a previous owner. The rear sight is a notch milled into the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth laminate rosewood with S&W medallions. The indexing pin is missing from the grip frame. There is a faint hairline crack on the left panel at the corner where the frontstrap widens into the frame. There are a couple of light scuffs and faint marks on each panel. There are a few light handling marks. The grips rate in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore but there is some stubborn fouling in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The grip indexing pin is missing from the grip frame. There are some spots of discoloration under the grips. There are some scattered light handling marks. There are some scuffs and rubs that have caused smooth spots. There are a few scattered light marks. There is a dragline on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double-action is smooth, the single action is crisp. The lockup has minor play. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a burgundy Bob Allen Lady Smith zipper case.
Our Assessment: This S&W .357 Magnum revolver with its heavy 3” barrel is a true service handgun and can easily be carried openly or concealed. It is built on a round butt K-frame fitted with smooth rosewood laminate Ace Grips with S&W medallions. It has a smooth combat trigger and a service hammer. Unlike other Model 65s, it has a shrouded extractor rod. The extractor rod on 3? barrels is full length, unlike those found on 2 1/2? K frames and helps to facilitate case extraction and quick reloading. This one looks great and comes in its burgundy Bob Allen soft case. Dubbed the Lady Smith, it is no wonder it is a thing of beauty we all want to get our hands on. This is a great revolver with a stainless construction, convenient 3” barrel length, and smooth wood grips, it could serve as a perfect carry revolver but in its condition and with the accessories is sure to catch the eye of a collector.
