Barrel Length: 18 1/2”

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed into a banded base that is integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip-up u-notch with a white diamond that is dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight reference can be adjusted to a square-notch configuration. The use of the flip up rear sight is hindered by the scope. The receiver is notched for the included Ruger rings, which have mounted into a Simmons 3-9×32 “22 MAG” scope. The scope body is mostly free of notable wear or damage save for a few very minor nicks and is missing the decal and has some minor scuffs of the windage adjustment cap. The glass is fairly clear. Overall, the scope is in Fine-plus condition.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The stock is a one-piece wood with pistol grip, straight comb a black polymer buttplate. There are sling studs on the belly of the buttstock and the underside of the forend. A few very light dings and nicks can be seen dotted down the length of the wood, the most notable instances being on the left side of the forend and the right side of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate has very minor edge wear along with very minor scuff wear at the heel and toe. Overall, the stock is in Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Blued Steel Barrel and Alloy Receiver

Finish Originality: Original, though it is apparent the barrel has been treated with cold blue or an equivalent.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. The area outside the crown has a few very minor nicks.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its original metal finish. A few minor nicks can be seen on the top of the barrel to the rear of the front sight and on the edges of the receiver. The barrel forward of the band has intermittent light-to-moderate surface oxidation and minor pitting under what appears to be a cold blue refinish. The action has light operational wear. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good-to-Fine condition, and were it not for the cold blue, would rate slightly higher.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This 10/22 will ship with the scope as described above and one (1) 10-round magazine.

Our Assessment: This Ruger Model 10/22 Carbine is a semi-automatic rifle chambered for .22 WMR rounds. The Model 10/22 was introduced to the market in 1965 by Ruger which based the rifle’s overall appearance partially on the WWII vintage M1 Carbine. The rifle proved popular from its inception, providing a simple and reliable option for people seeking a recreational plinker. This particular specimen was produced in 2002. It has some very minor handling wear and a bit of light refinishing on the barrel but retains nearly all of its original finish which is surprising given these guns are typically handled by kids. This rifle should make for a great plinker, garden guardian or better yet, that introductory rifle for the next generation of shooters. Good luck and happy bidding!
