Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “AUG. FRANCOTTE-LIEGE / PACHMAYR LOS ANGELES, CA.” in gold. The quarter rib is marked “CAL. 458 WINCHESTER”. The left side of the barrel is marked “.458 WIN”, with an indistinguishable word, Belgian proofs, 21739″, and with cornw over “AF”. The left side of the chamber ring has a Belgian proof. The receiver has scroll engraving. The bottom tang is marked with the serial number in gold. The bottom metal assembly has scroll engraving, the trigger guard is engraved with the Pachmayr logo, and the floorplate is engraved with an elephants head in gold. The grip cap and screws show engraving.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white beaded blade in-line dovetailed to a ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a wide “V” notch express sight dovetailed into the quarter rib.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is finely checkered select walnut with wood forend cap, straight comb, cheekpiece, and a brown rubber buttpad. There is a sling stud on the belly and there is another mounted on the barrel. There are a few scattered draglines and compressions, the most noticeable is on the left side at about the rear of the action, on the cheekpiece, and on the belly. The checkering is strong. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8? from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad shows some minor wear form handling. Overall, the stock is in about Fine-Excellent condition

Finish Originality: Original to Pachmayr Customization
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore but there are some spots of stubborn fouling.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks on the receiver. The right edge of the trigger guard has a little ding. There are a few little marks on the trigger. There are a few little sptos of discoloration and finish loss on the left side of the front sight base. There is faint operational wear. There is a bit of finish wear at the muzzle. The screw heads are sharp to lightly tool marked. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action works correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a red felt lined leather case with straps, clasps, and a lock.
Our Assessment: This is a custom rifle built on a Belgian Mauser by Auguste Francotte of Belgian. The Mauser design is itself a legendary and time-tested platform that has been used by numerous militaries and is the basis for many of the bolt action rifles produced today. This is a beautiful rifle which has absolutely gorgeous engraving, finish work, and stock work done by the legendary Pachmayr Custom. The scroll engraving is intricate, detailed, and the coverage is perfectly tasteful! The gold motif on the barrel is outstanding and pops against the rich bluing. The rich figuring of the walnut is a sight to behold. Oh, and underneath it all is a .458 Winchester Magnum rifle with an express iron sights. The included luggage case will help you safely transport and store this rifle, whether your intent is display or if you want to have the most beautiful rifle in the field next season.
