Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “PATENTED APR. 20. 1897. SEPT. 9. 1902. / DEC 19. 1905 FEB. 14. 1911. AUG. 19. 1913” with a rampant colt and “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The right side of the frame is marked “CASPIAN ARMS LTD., HARDWICK, VT U.S.A.”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade dovetailed in-line with the bore at the front of the slide. The rear sight is a Wichita Bomar-style square notch adjustable for windage and elevation dovetailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece double-diamond oil-finished walnut. The grips have no notable wear or damage. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blue Slide, Stainless Hammer, Grip Safety and Thumb Safety
Finish Originality: The slide has been refinished. The frame is likely original.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The slide flats have evidence of light pinprick erosion under the finish and the weld-line is faintly visible in the flats. The grip screws, frontstrap and mainspring housing stippling, slide and hammer serrations are sharp. The markings are clear, though the slide markings have soft edges. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition as customized.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is crisp. The slide to frame fit is quite tight. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Built on a Caspian Arms frame and with a Colt slide, this custom pistol has a number of upgrades over the standard Government model including extended slide and 6″ barrel, adjustable target sights, ambidextrous thumb safety, beavertail grip safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger and frontstrap and mainspring housing stippling. The slide weld job appears to have been done by a professional with the weld-line faintly visible and the checkered walnut grips have nice figuring. This is a beautiful long-slide that would make a great pistol for bowling-pin matches, Steel Challenge or just recreational target shooting. Please see our photos and good luck!
