Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece goncalo alves combat stocks with S&W medallions, finger grooves, and a speedloader cut. There are some patches of finish loss. Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some swirl marks and draglines. There are some scuffs that have caused smooth spots. There is some finish wear on the back edges of the trigger that have taken on oxidation. There are some spots of what appears to be light erosion on the cylinder but the gun is stainless so they may just be manufacturing imperfections. There are light handling marks. There is a light turn line on the cylinder. The screw heads are lightly used. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup produces minor side-to-side movement. The double action trigger pull is smooth, the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching box, paperwork including a manual, and a cleaning kit (brush, rod, sight adjustment tool).

Our Assessment: The Model 627 was introduced by Smith & Wesson in 1989 as a special edition stainless version of the timeless N-Frame Model 27. Production would later continue as an 8-shot Performance Center revolver. This is the original Model of 1989 627-0 with a 5 1/2? barrel with a checkered rib & topstrap plus an unfluted 6-shot cylinder. This one has hardly any wear and with about 5,000 made would certainly be a nice addition to a collection of Smith & Wessons, it even comes with its original box. Please see our pictures and good luck!
