Markings: The import mark on the barrel reads “CAI ST ALB VT / 303 UK”. The left side of the receiver is marked “No4 MK2 (F) / 1/55 PF338634”. The “(F)” is for Fazakerley and the “PF” is a Fazakerley prefix. The rear of the bolt handle, bottom of the forearm and bottom of the magazine are each marked with the serial number. The bolt assembly is marked with various small stampings including “crossed flags” on the bolt head and bolt handle. The metal parts are marked with various small British stampings, most are inspection stamps. The bottom of the grip and bottom of the forearm are each marked with inspection stamps.

Barrel Length: Approximately 25 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is bladed post set between two protective ears. The rear sight is an aperture sight when down. It flips up to become a sight ladder marked from “2-13”. The sight ladder uses an adjustable aperture.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a straight grip with finger groove, 2 nosecaps, 2 barrel bands, 2 sling loops, and a metal buttplate with a hinged door for storage. The wood shows various small scuffs and handling marks. The LOP measures 13 1/4 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Fine Plus to Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Black Paint over Oil Darkened Metal

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright; semi bright at the muzzle. The rifling is sharp & deep. There is some fouling in the grooves and at the muzzle which should clean up a bit. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The metal shows various scuffs & light handling marks. The screw heads are intact. The markings are crisp & clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a 10 round magazine. The bottom of the magazine has a freckling of surface erosion showing through the finish. It appears to function correctly.

Our Assessment: This Enfield No4 Mk2 was made by the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) Fazakerley in England back in 1955. It looks great and is in Fine Plus condition. The metal & wood are in niece shape with only minor blemishes and the bore is strong & bright. The rifle has matching numbers on the receiver, bolt handle, stock and magazine. This Enfield No4 Mk2 is an ideal rifle for an Enfield collector. Good luck.
