Our Assessment: The Model 1873 was one of the most successful Winchester rifles of its day, with Winchester marketing it as “The Gun That Won the West”. Still an icon in the modern day, it was manufactured between 1873 and 1923. This example is chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge. The .45 Colt cartridge remains in use 149 years after its introduction. It is used as a hunting load on animals the size of deer and black bear. Heavier handloads will take the same range of big game animals as the .44 Magnum. A popular use for the .45 Colt today is in Cowboy Action Shooting. Uberti is known for making quality reproductions of classic firearms. This is a Model 1873 Short Rifle manufactured by Uberti for Stoeger that is in about Fine-Excellent condition with a solid bore. The previous owner made sure to properly maintain this rifle as it is shown through the smooth mechanics and bright bore. Please see our photos and good luck!
