Markings: The left side of the top barrel is marked “WINCHESTER – MODEL 191 XTR “Sporter” – 12 GA. – 2 3/4″-70MM / WINCHOKE – EAST ALTON IL. U.S.A.”. Each barrel has a Winchester Proof on the left just forward of the chamber. The top of the rib is marked “Diamond Grade Sporter”. The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN JAPAN”. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The monoblock is marked “487683?. The barrel lug is marked “12-2 3/4” in oval. The coin receiver is deluxe floral engraved with deep relief diamonds on each side of the receiver. The bottom of the receiver is relief engraved “Diamond / Grade” in a diamond and “WINCHESTER”. The top tang is marked “DG487683E”. The water table has a “WP” in oval proof. The forend hardware is marked “487683” and the inside wood is stamped “7683”.

Sights / Optics: There is a white bead in a base at the front of the rib and a smaller white mid-bead. The top of the rib is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with semi-beavertail forend with schnabel tip, pistol grip, straight comb, checkered walnut buttplate, black diamonds inset to the top of the wrist and bottom of the grip. There are some scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches including on the edges of the schnabel tip. There are is a more notable ding on the top-right edge of the forend near the front. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has minor wear with a more notable ding at the toe. The drop at comb is about 1 3/8?, drop at heel is about 2 1/4?. Overall, the stocks are in Fine condition.
Type of Finish: The receiver and forend hardware have a coin finish and the barrels are blued. The ejectors are jeweled.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is a little bit of discoloration in the bottom tang. The action shows minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The barrels lock up with no play. It has a single selective mechanically operated trigger. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a black Winchester luggage case, English fit for the barrel group and stocked receiver, having sockets for the included chokes and an accessory compartment with keys for the case and a choke wrench.
Our Assessment: The iconic Model 101 is a shotgun with legendary styling and handling and the unquestionable reliability you expect from Winchester firearms. The Diamond Grade features detailed engraving, white finished hardware, and wood stocks with beautiful grain. This shotgun features white bead sights, muzzle vents, jeweled ejectors and a single selective trigger. It is the Sporting variant chambered for 12 gauge shells, having 28″ barrels threaded for Winchoke tubes, allowing the user to switch depending on the requirements of the course. This example is in Fine-Excellent condition with minor use and handling wear, most in the wood. If you’re looking for a 12 gauge sporting clays gun, you won’t do much better than this.
