Markings: The top tang is marked “P68577B / SILVER PIGEON”, the bottom of the receiver is marked “MADE IN ITALY / P. BERETTA / SILVER PIGEON II”, each side is marked “P. BERETTA” in banner and the water table is marked with two Italian proofs. The receiver has extensive fine scroll and floral engraving with relief engraved fowl scenes on the sides. The trigger plate is marked “PATENTED”. The bottom of the trigger guard has Beretta’s rings and arrows logo with floral engraving in front and behind. The top of the forend iron is marked “P72130B”, the exterior of the forend iron has floral engraving. The left of the top barrel is marked “OB 12 GA. 3? – 28? / OPTIMA-BORE / CAM.76 18.6” and with an Italian proof forward of the chamber and “SPORTING / BERETTA – MADE IN ITALY / GARDONE V.T.” at the chamber, the right is marked with Beretta’s two-line warning forward of the chamber and “BERETTA USA CORP ACKK, MD” at the chamber. The left of the bottom barrel is marked “- EXCELSIOR – HIGH STRENGTH ALLOYED STEEL / KG1,330 18.6” and with an Italian proof, the bottom is marked “309549 M”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “P72130B” with two Italian proofs and “BT” in square date code.

Choke: This shotgun is threaded for removable chokes with Cylinder over Cylinder installed. Also included are Modified, Improved Modified, Improved Cylinder, Full, Skeet, and an additional Cylinder.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a white bead in a base at the front of the rib and a smaller brass mid-rib. The top of the rib is finely checkered to reduce glare.
Weight: 7 lb., 9.1 oz.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a grooved forearm, flat-bottom pistol grip with a right palm swell, straight comb and solid black rubber Inflex buttpad. There is light finish wear throughout. The left side of the buttstock shows some scattered little compressions. There are other scattered faint marks throughout the wood. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 3/4” & 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The drop at the comb is about 1 1/4?, the drop at the heel is about 1 1/2?. The cast is about neutral. The recoil pad has some light wear. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. The bottom of the lower barrel shows light finish loss. There are light scratches and nicks infrequently scattered about the barrel set. There are some little nicks and scratches on the trigger guard. There is some finish loss on the right side of the barrel from contact with the forend. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a blue plastic Beretta case. The dial lock does not function properly.
Our Assessment: This Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon II in 12 gauge is a great example of quality Beretta shotguns. From the solid action to the beautifully engraved scenes on the receiver, this is a shotgun that will turn some heads at the range with performance to match its looks. The shotgun is in about Fine-Very Good condition with some extremely light wear in the stocks, bright bores and strong mechanics. It comes with a nice Beretta case for storage and transport.
