Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE / BROWNING’S PATENT DEPOSE”, the right side is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY / MORGAN, UTAH 7 MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN BELGIUM” and “77C48711”. The right side of the chamber is marked “BAR-STO 9mm” and the bottom is marked “11”. The right side of the barrel lug is marked “80”. The right bow of the trigger guard is marked with a Belgian proof and an inspector’s mark, the left is marked “R”. The bottom of the firing pin housing is marked with a Belgian proof, inspection mark, “LS” in an oval, “G”, and “*”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number “77C48711”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an aluminum blade set screwed to a boss on the top of the slide. The rear sight is a fully adjustable square notch leaf that is pinned to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered wood panels which show some scuff marks and finish wear on the smooth borders. The front and back strap have been stippled. The checkering is well defined and there are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Good-Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Custom Refinish
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion but there is a small amount of stubborn fouling in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its custom metal finish. There are a few hardly notable marks scattered about the metal surfaces. The serrations are sharp. The action has faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are clean. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition as customized.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is no perceptible play between the slide and frame. The magazine disconnect has been removed. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Browning Hi-Power is a single-action, semi-automatic handgun available in the 9mm and .40 S&W calibers. It was based on a design by American firearms inventor John Browning, and completed by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale (FN) of Herstal, Belgium. Browning died in 1926, several years before the design was finalized. FN Herstal initially named the design the “High Power”, which alludes to the 13-round magazine capacity, almost twice that of other designs at the time, such as the Luger or Colt M1911. This is a customized C-series Hi-power that features a sleek FDE and black ion bond finish and a custom trigger job and is equipped with fully adjustable sights. This beautiful pistol retains about 99% of its custom finish and is in about Excellent condition. The bore is bright and the trigger breaks crisp.
