The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle has a neat takedown feature that allows the rifle to be disassembled into two pieces within seconds. The action is smooth and the trigger is crisp. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a brown cardboard Marlin box with serial matching label, Marlin branded Allen black nylon zipper case with separate pouches for each of the action assemblies, a manual and a white plastic “keeper” which installs in the barrel assembly when taken down to keep the bolt in place.
Our Assessment: Most of us are familiar with Marlin’s legendary 39A lever action rifle. Already famous for its incredibly accurate Micro-Groove barrels, the takedown ability makes this not only an accurate rifle but a convenient one. For the dedicated Marlin collector, this is a great package. All 39s take down, but the TDS has a shorter 16 1/2″ barrel and came with a Marlin branded zipper case just for this rifle. This example is in Excellent condition with only a few scattered light marks, a great bore and strong mechanics. Better still, it comes with its original box, case, and even the plastic “keeper”, which usually gets tossed as soon as one of these rifles is assembled. Please see our pictures and good luck!
