Our Assessment: Winchester began shipping the Model 70 in January 1, 1937. An improvement on the Model 54, the Model 70 became one of the most popular hunting rifles ever produced. This is a Pre-1964 Model 70 chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum which is extremely versatile and has been adopted by many shooting disciplines. The cartridge has found favor by hunters, target shooters, military units, and law enforcement departments. Hunters found that the cartridge was an effective all around hunting cartridge, suitable for hunting big game such as Elk and Moose. This rifle is in Very Good condition, retaining 88% of its metal finish. The bore is good and the marks are all cosmetic. This is a great time to pick up your new hunting rifle for next season.
