Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The loading gate and the right side of the lever pivot show some stubborn residue. There are a few hardly noticeable scattered light marks about the metal. The action shows faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The trigger is crisp. The receiver contains a push safety that blocks the hammer from hitting the pin. The lever safety is present and functional. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in its original serial matching box with paperwork including the manual, a cleaning cloth, and a safety lock.

Our Assessment: This is a “New Model” Marlin Model 1895 lever action rifle made with a 22” barrel. The original Model 1895 rifle ceased production in 1915, and was upgraded and brought back into production in 1972. The barrel is chambered in .45-70 Govt. and has Ballard rifling, which produces tighter groups with lead bullets than Marlin’s Micro-Groove rifling. The rifle is in about Fine-Plus condition with only a few faint marks on its surfaces. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. This rifle is perfect for elk or black bear hunting and its fast lever action will give you a quick 2nd shot on running game if you need it. All it needs is an elevator piece for the rear sight. Please see our photos and good luck!
