Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 94 38-55 WIN. / MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The right side of the barrel sports a gold filled “Oliver F. Winchester” signature. The top of the barrel is marked with the oval “WP” proof mark. The tang is marked “MODEL 1894 / WINCHESTER”. The underside of the receiver is marked “OFW5588”.
Barrel Length: 24”, Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetail set to the barrel and the rear sight is “U” notched elevator leaf adjustable for elevation dovetailed to the rear of the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with gold forend cap, straight grip, straight comb, blued steel crescent buttplate and Oliver Winchester medallion inlet to the right of the buttstock. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall, the stocks are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is a light scratch on the top of the barrel between the rear sight and receiver. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heds are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes in the original white Styrofoam box with a cardboard sleeve which displays images of a Volcanic, Henry and Winchester repeater, a wagon train, a Native American and a photograph of Oliver Winchester. The sleeve has tears and losses, some tape-repaired and fraying at edges and corners. The styrofoam tray has scattered wear, mostly at corners and ends. There is an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and hang-tag.
Our Assessment: This is an attractive commemorative Winchester 1894 rifle in .38-55, manufactured in 1980 to honor the impact Oliver F. Winchester on the history of the United States. The rifle features deluxe checkering on the grip and forend, engraved matte gold plated receiver and matte gold lever, forend cap and magazine plug. The rifle is in Excellent condition showing little to no sign of use and comes in its original box. This will make a great addition to a Winchester or any American firearms collection.
