Our Assessment: This is a lovely set of 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army pistols in a display case. The revolvers were part of the Arizona Territory Centennial series manufactured in 1963, and were subsequently engraved by Master Engraver John Barraclough in 1999. The art work expresses a “Cowboys and Indian” theme in the “cattle brand” style. 64AC is adorned with images of a rifle and a Bowie knife on the right side of the frame and a buffalo head on the recoil shield, while 373AC sports a spear and tomahawk on the right side of the frame and an eagle head on the recoil shield. An Arizona Ranger star is present on the top of both back straps with icons of the West represented on the rear of each backstrap. A turtle and a rattle snake appear on both cylinders. The butt of 64AC displays a brass plaque which reads “JUSTICE” and a similar plaque is present on the butt of 373AC which reads “LIBERTY”. The remainder of the artwork on both pistols is bold and the backgrounds are meticulously stippled. The bright nickel finish compliments the natural Mother of Pearl grips which look striking set into the burgundy lining of the case. This is a spectacular, one of a kind set of 2nd Generation Single Action Army pistols, magnificently engraved by Master Engraver John Barraclough which will be a highlight of any high end Colt collection (particularly in the Arizona Territory.)
