Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a green fiber-optic bead fixed to the front of its ventilated rib. The rib meets at an extension slotted onto the receiver; the top is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece checkered, gloss finished walnut set with capped pistol grip, straight comb and textured black plastic Browning buttplate. The stocks have some scattered minor nicks and scratches. There are tiny losses at the bottom-front of the wrist to each side of the trigger guard. The checkering is well defined, generally sharp. There are no cracks. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. The plate has light wear at the heel and toe. The stocks rate in Very Good-plus overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. Most of the balance is in light operational wear and wear from disassembly/reassembly, most notable on the left-front of the receiver where the action bar was slightly rearward during reassembly. There are a few other scattered minor marks. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This shotgun takes down in seconds for easy storage and maintenance. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with the additional chokes and wrench mentioned above.

Our Assessment: What a gun! When Browning had these shotguns produced by Miroku, Winchester had discontinued the Model 12, making this a first opportunity for some and a last opportunity for many to get their hands on new production guns. This Grade I Model 12 is in Very Good-plus condition with a great bore and strong mechanics. Originally fixed-choked Modified, the barrel has been threaded for Briley chokes with Skeet, Modified and Improved Modified included as well as a wrench to use for swapping them out. The gun appears to have seen light use in the field and should still make a great field gun for smaller birds. It would also be a classy piece to challenge yourself on the Skeet fields or a nice addition to a Winchester or Browning shotgun collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
