Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “NIKKO / MODEL 7000 / 7MM.REM.MAG”. The left side of the receiver is marked “Golden Eagle®” in gold colored lettering. The butt-pad is marked “GOLDEN EAGLE”. The right side of the receiver features the serial number “001191” and “PAT. PEND.” The right side of the barrel is marked “KANEMATSU-GOSHO / ARLINGTON HTS. ILL. / MADE IN JAPAN”.

Barrel Length: 24”

Sights/ Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled for mounting an optic (not included). Included separately are two scope rings in their original plastic wrapping.

Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is one-piece skip-line checkered wood featuring a rosewood capped forend, checkered semi-pistol grip with cap that features a three dimensional gold colored eagle’s head, fluted Monte Carlo style comb with cheek piece, and brown rubber ventilated recoil pad. The belly and bottom of the forend both have sling swivels attached to studs. The stock has some light handling and storage marks but it lacks any notable defects. There are no cracks or chips. The LOP is 13 3/8” from the trigger to the rear end of the recoil pad. The buttpad has slightly hardened with age but remains mostly pliable. Overall, the stock is in Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks but the rifle lacks any notable defects. There is some stubborn dried cosmoline on the bolt. The markings are clear. The screwheads remain sharp. Overall, the rifle is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box Paperwork and Accessories: The rifle comes in its original box with the previously mentioned scope rings and paperwork including the manual and test target.

Our Assessment: This Nikko Golden Eagle model 7000 is a bolt-action rifle with a fixed magazine that takes 7mm Remington Magnum rounds. The rifle was produced by Nikko Ltd. a Japanese gun manufacturer which produced impressive wares, such as this rifle, from 1975-1981. This model 7000 has a striking appearance, the stock is still fresh and the metal parts have only minor handling wear. Notably, the semi-pistol grip cap has a three dimensional gold colored eagle’s head and the bolt is jeweled. The rifle is not just a looker, it is mechanically sound and operates smoothly.
