Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SMITH & WESSON” and with the four-line Marcas Registradas. The left side of the frame is marked “A784524 / MODEL 659” above the trigger. The right side of the frame has the S&W trademark monogram logo. The top of the barrel is marked “9MM”. The left side of the trigger guard is marked “T”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp integral to the top of the slide. The rear sight is an adjustable square-notch sight with two white dots and is in a base with protective ears dovetailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black plastic with smooth borders and molded S&W monogram logos. There one or two little faint hairline scratches on the grips. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few little scuffs and rubs, some have caused smooth spots. There are a few little marks on the rear serrations. There is some standard operational wear. There are some light handling marks. The grip screw heads show light use. The markings are clear. Overall this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double-action trigger is smooth. The single-action trigger is crisp with a short reset. We did not fire this pistol. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a factory box with a serial matching label, cleaning supplies, paperwork including the manual, and a 14-round magazine. Please note, no magazine will be included if prohibited by your local laws.
Our Assessment: This Model 659 from Smith & Wesson is a stainless-steel, double-stack, single/double action semi-automatic pistol with fixed sights and an ambidextrous decocker-safety. The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson notes that a variation was made with a lanyard loop on the butt for Export Police sales, however, this pistol doesn’t have any foreign markings on it. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, about 97% of the finish remains and overall, this is in about Excellent condition. This one is a frist year model and comes with its original box, cleaning kit, and paperwork including the manual. This pistol would make a good addition to a Smith & Wesson collection or serve the buyer for decades to come as a carry gun or recreational shooter.
