Our Assessment: This Colt Double Eagle Series 90 is a single and double-action semi-automatic pistol chambered for .45 ACP. The Colt Double Eagle line was a series of Colt pistols, essentially double action versions of Model 1911s, manufactured from approximately 1990-1996. The Double Eagles operate with the same Browning designed pivoting barrel which was used by the Government Model, but have a double action trigger which is quite similar to the conversions performed by Seecamp, a decocking lever reminiscent of Sig Sauer’s, and squared off combat trigger guard. This particular handgun has little in the way of wear appearing to have spent more time in its included box than out. This is a great opportunity for the Colt collectors who haven’t added a Double Eagle to their stable and should also make for a fun shooter that uses the same magazines as standard 1911s.
