Markings: The right side of the ejector-rod is marked “357 MAGNUM” and the underside is marked with a factory warning. The right side of the frame is marked “RUGER Redhawk,“®”, and the company’s phoenix logo. The underside of the grip frame is marked with the serial number “504-05739”.
Barrel Length: 5 1/2″ with serrated barrel rib and recessed crown
Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade hand-painted orange dovetailed into the barrel rib. The rear sight is a black square-notch leaf adjustable for elevation and windage in a base pinned to a channel in the top strap.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth wood panels with inset Ruger phoenix logo medallions. There is light use-wear, the lower edges of both panels have a few very minor nicks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Fine-plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: The stainless steel has scattered minor nicks that are most evident on the underlug and the left side of the barrel. The cylinder has a faint turn line. Pins are unmarred, and all markings are clear. Overall, this 98% revolver is in Fine-to-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with minor play when the trigger is depressed. The single action is crisp, and the double action is light and smooth. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This Redhawk includes a serial-matching red Ruger factory snap-case, a manual, a test fire casing in a sealed envelope, and a lock.
Our Assessment: The Redhawk was Ruger’s first large bore double action revolver and was available in several barrel lengths and chambered for an assortment of powerful cartridges such as .357 (as is the case with this one) and .44 Magnum. Like the Security-Six, the Redhawk was designed by Harry Sefried as a part of their “6” line of guns (Security, Service, Speed, etc.) The Redhawk is a wrist-breaker, a beastly thrill to shoot, but as a tool, is best utilized when on the hunt should you run into a predator. Notably, this version features an unfluted cylinder that allows for a gloriously obscene 8 shots. This example is in overall Fine-to-Excellent condition with minimal wear. Good luck and happy bidding!
