Markings: The top rib is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A VULCAN STEEL”. The left barrel flat is marked “J.G.” in an oval. The right barrel flat is Marked “V” in a circle “HT / A” and “3” to the power of “1”. The water table is marked “PARKER BROS / REG. U.S. PAT OFF / PAT’D JAN. 18, AUG, 16 1887 / PAT’D OCT. 25, 1910 / PAT’D AUG 15, 1905 / VH / 198561 / V”. The sides of the receiver are marked “PARKER BROS” with light border engraving. The bottom tang is marked “198561” The outside of the forend latch is marked “PAT’D MAR. 26, 1878”. The interior forend hardware is marked “198561”.

Choke: The left barrel is choked Full. The right barrel is choked Improved Modified.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a brass bead on the solid serrated rib.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are hand checkered walnut. There is a metal shield inlaid into the belly of the buttstock. There is a Parker Bros. pistol grip cap. There is a very tiny chip off of the stock on the right side at the bottom corner of the receiver. There are a few light scratches on the stock as well as some faint handling and compression marks. The LOP measures 14 ½” from the front of the trigger to the back of the pliable recoil pad rating in Very Good condition. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.
Type of Finish: The receiver is in the white and the barrels are blue.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There are some spots of erosion in both barrels about 9” from the muzzle. There is also a bit of frosting near the chambers
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a compression mark at the end of the left chamber. This does not protrude into the bore. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun.

Our Assessment: Parker Brothers shotguns hold a high place in the pantheon of American gun makers. This VH Grade Side by Side would provide a fantastic entry into the Parker collector’s circle. With its all matching Serial numbers on the barrel set, water table and forend hardware, this is a Great looking and functioning Parker Brothers shotgun for being over ninety years old.
