Markings: The left of the chamber is marked “USE ONLY / 257 WBY MAG.”. The left of the receiver is marked “MARK V”, “Weatherby / PASO ROBLES, CA”, and “MADE IN U.S.A.”. The underside of the bolt handle is hand inscribed “2025”. The right front of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The bottom of the trigger guard is marked “W” in gold-tone color fill.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped with a pair of two-piece bases and rings holding a Leupold VX-II scope with a duplex reticle and 3-9x magnification. The scope has hardly any external wear and the lenses are clear. The scope rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is checkered walnut with rosewood nose and grip caps, pistol grip, monte-carlo comb with cheekpiece, solid brown rubber Decelerator recoil pad and sling studs front and rear. There is a tan diamond inlay in the bottom of the grip. There are some compressions on the right side of the stock just below the well and one on the leading edge of the cheekpiece. There are some other dispersed less notable light marks and lines throughout. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad has minor wear and is still supple. Overall, the stock is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is light handling and operational wear but no significant imperfections. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The previously mentioned scope is included as well as a factory manual.
Our Assessment: This is a quality Weatherby rifle made right here in the U.S.A. This Mark V Deluxe rifle has a high luster blued finish with a fancy checkered walnut stock. The stock has a Monte Carlo comb, cheekpiece, rosewood grip cap and nose cap, and a soft Decelerator marked recoil pad. The 26” barrel is chambered for the .257 Weatherby Magnum cartridge and has a bright bore. The .257 Weatherby Magnum will do well for pronghorn at distance and Ed Weatherby, son of Roy, says there just isn’t a better caliber for that purpose. It will do very well at touching targets out at distance, no matter if they are game animals or steel targets, especially with the included Leupold scope. The rifle is in Excellent with about 99% of its metal finish remaining, minor wear in the stock, the bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. Please see our photos and good luck!
