Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 94 30-30 WIN. / MADE IN NEW HAVEIN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”, the top has an ovalled “WP” proof. The right is marked “COWBOY COMMEMORATIVE” in silver. The left of the receiver is marked “BRAVE / LAND” with an engraving of a cowboy on a bucking bronco and “BOLD / MEN”, the right is engraved with a lasso and spurs. The bottom-front of the receiver is marked “CB14622”. The top tang is marked “MODEL 1894 / WINCHESTER”. The right of the buttstock has an inset silver medallion with a cowboy lassoing a bull.

Barrel Length: 20”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to the barrel forward of the front barrel band. The rear sight is a “U”-notch leaf and elevator sight dovetailed to the rear of the barrel with the notch fine-adjustable for elevation. The left of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled to accept a peep-sight (none included).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with barrel band, straight grip, and nickel-plated steel carbine-style buttplate. The forend has only a minor compression on the right side. The buttstock has a faint nick on the comb. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. The plate has some scattered faint scratches and wear in its face. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The front sight has a few spots of very light surface oxidation. There are a few light marks on either side of the receiver. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are Clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Produced in 1970, the Winchester Cowboy Commemorative celebrates one of the most recognizable icons in America, the Cowboy. These men were responsible for taming the land of the West and bringing beef to the tables of America. This rifle is in Fine-Excellent condition showing a few spots of light wear and comes with its original box. It is equally ready to add to a Winchester collection, display in any home in America, or take out to the range and start blasting away with .30-30 Winchester, the classic American lever-action rifle cartridge.
