Item: One M1A1 Paratrooper stock and one canvas M1A1 Parachutist Hip Holster (scabbard).

Dimensions: The stock’s overall length is 28 1/2 inches; folded it is 18 3/4 inches.
The scabbard’s overall length is 28 inches.
Finish: Wood stock with metal side folder. Canvas scabbard.
Markings: The interior of the handguard is marked “OI” which is an Inland mark (page 138 of Craig Riesch’s book, U.S. M1 Carbines Wartime Production 7th Edition). The interior of the forearm is marked “OI” next to the magazine well wall which is correct for an M1A1 stock. This is an Inland mark. The inside of the buttplate is marked “B257614 * G” which is correct for an M1A1 stock (page 127).
The parachutist holster is marked “U.S.” on the flap. The underside of the flap is marked “4549” in permanent marker as well as “CARTER BROS. INC. / 1944”.
Originality: The stock and scabbard are USGI parts.
Condition: The M1A1 Paratrooper stock shows scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Some have damaged small areas of the surface wood. The leather on the buttsock shows small scrapes, compression marks, and discoloration. The buttstock metal shows small scrapes and oxidation. The butstock folds and extends properly. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.
The M1A1 Parachutist Hip Holster (scabbard) holds an M1 Carbine with a folded M1A1 stock. It shows soiling, discoloration, and areas of fading. The bottom leg strap has been removed. The bottom of the scabbard shows some fraying from the removal. It is in about Good to Very Good condition.
