Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 is a robust bolt-action rifle designed in 1968 by L. James Sullivan during his short three-years with Ruger. Intended originally as a modernized Mauser 98, it featured simplified ejector updates and a newly designed safety system.
This rifle was made in 2014, well-after all major M77 re-tools. The matte stainless action looks impressive set in the colored laminate stock. The stock has seen some use but still looks good. This M77 has a strong bright bore and is topped with a Leupold 2-7 power scope. It should do well at the range or in the field. Good luck.
