Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “Weatherby / .300 Magnum”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SAUER Weatherby EUROPA / U.S. PATENTS 3,013,355” and “Weatherby”. The right side of the receiver is marked “P1942”. The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN W-GERMANY”.

/ Barrel Length: 24” Tapered

Sights / Optics: The front sight is brass beaded blade on a mount which is grooved to accept a hood. The mount is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a “U” notched leaf dovetail set to a mount fixed to the barrel. A Supra scope is mounted to a quick release base which is fixed to the top of the receiver. The scope is marked with a Supra logo / “VARIABLE-1.5-6X E/D/S Nr. 415396 / MADE IN GERMANY”. The click stop power ring is calibrated from “1.5” to “6”. A reverse dovetail is present on the underside of the objective bell and the scope is equipped with lens caps with clear ends. The ocular lens is fitted with a rotating diopter which is locked into place by a set screw located on the right side of the bell. Light handling marks are visible on the scope. The optics are clear and feature a German #4 reticle on the first focal plane. The scope is in Fine condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The one piece deluxe skip line checkered walnut pistol grip stock features rosewood forend tip and grip cap as well as sling swivels mounted to the beavertail forend and fluted butt. The butt possesses a cheek piece for right handed shooters and a Monte Carlo comb. Scattered shallow handling marks are visible on the stock with a notable compression mark present on the underside of the forend. The white diamond on the grip cap exhibits chips at the points and three edges. The checkering exhibits mild wear from use. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the vented recoil pad which has a fancy stipple pattern and sports a Weatherby logo. The recoil pad is firm and pliable, exhibits marks and wear from use and is in Very Good condition. The stock rates in about Very Good to Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little evidence of use except for a line of small marks through the finish on the left side of the barrel. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.

Our Assessment: The Weatherby Europa is a good, solid hunting rifle. This one is in Fine condition and is equipped with a very nice German scope on a quick release base. Chambered in .300 Weatherby Magnum, a round which has been used by big game hunters all over the world, this Weatherby Europa is capable of taking the largest game in North America.
