Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER”, “P229”, “STAINLESS” and “SIGARMS INC. / EXETER-NH-USA”. The left grip is marked “P229” and the right grip is marked “SIG SAUER”. The right side of the barrel is marked “.40 S&W”. The right side of the slide is marked with the serial number “AB20943”. The right side of the frame is serial matched, has the J.P. Sauer & Sohn GmbH logo and is marked “-SIGARMS INC. EXETER NH- / FRAME-P229-MADE IN GERMANY”.

Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a blade with a white dot dovetailed to the slide. The rear sight is a square-notch with a white mark in the center dovetailed to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The grip panels are two-piece black synthetic featuring textured side panels and a textured back strap. The grips have some light handling marks, but they lack any notable defects. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grip panels are in Fine condition.
Type of Finish: Blackened Stainless Steel
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: The pistol retains about 90% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks, nicks and scuffs on the gun’s metal surfaces. Notably, the barrel has finished loss from the action being engaged. The markings remain clear. The screwheads have light tool-marks btu they remain serviceable. Overall, the pistol is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit is snug. The single-action trigger is crisp and the double-action is smooth. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: The pistol comes with a grey SIG Sauer box (the box has no serialization on it). Please note, no magazine is included with the gun.
Our Assessment: This is a Sig Sauer Model P229 which is a double-action only semi-automatic pistol chambered for .40 S&W cartridges. The P229 is an upgrade to the P228, being an almost identical compact firearm which is popular among military and law enforcement operatives. Developed specifically for sales in the US, it is made with both German and US-made parts. The P229 features a heavier slide to tolerate more powerful cartridges than the P228. Because the gun was assembled in the US it lacks a German date code. This particular specimen has some light handling wear but it remains mechanically sound. Good luck on your bid!
