Our Assessment: The Sig Sauer P228 is a single and double-action semi-automatic pistol chambered for 9mm Parabellum rounds. The pistol, designated the M11 by the U.S. Military, is a smaller version of the P226. Sig Sauer pistols have long been recognized as being among the highest quality handguns on the market. It should be noted that West German manufacturing had achieved a strong reputation on the international market during the Cold War, thus German industrialists lobbied Berlin to allow them to continue to mark their products as being manufactured in “West Germany” for 5 years after the country was reunified. Hence, this pistol which was made in 1992, three years after the Berlin Wall came down, retains a West German marking. The gun has some handling wear but it remains mechanically sound. Good luck on your bid!
