Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “CZ 83″, “CAL.9 BROWNING COURT / MADE IN CZECH REPUBLIC” and with the CZ logo. The right side of the slide is marked “15” with two proofs, the serial number and “CZ-USA, KANSAS CITY, KS”. The right of the frame at the chamber is marked with a proof and the serial number (visible through the ejection port when in battery).

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to the front of the slide with a white dot on the rear face. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide with two white dots on the rear face.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The installed grip panels are checkered & textured wood with finger grooves and a right thumb shelf on the left panel. There is play between the right panel and frame that cannot be remedied by tightening the grip screw. The grips show only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine-Plus condition.
Also included are the original checkered synthetic black panels that have ambidextrous shelves. The smooth borders show some faint little nicks and scratches and the checkering is sharp. Overall, the original grips rate in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some minor fouling in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The slide and barrel have light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit has almost no play. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in its original serial matching case with three 12-round magazines, paperwork including a manual, and the original grips. Also included us a Cross Breed Holster.
Our Assessment: The CZ Model 83 is the civilian export version of the VZ 82, which replaced the previous VZ 52 in Czech military service in 1983. The pistol has a blowback action, allowing for a fixed barrel which lends itself to better accuracy than one might expect from such a compact pistol. Built with the same quality, simplicity and reliability for which Czech firearms have come to be known, this pistol would make for a nice carry gun or recreational shooter, especially for those who are a little more recoil sensitive and prefer the .380 cartridge to more powerful handgun rounds.
