Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER ® MODEL 9422M – .22 WIN. MAGNUM / -MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-”. The top rear of the barrel is marked with the Winchester proof. The underside of the receiver and forward portion of the guard assembly are marked with the serial number, “F715516”. The buttplate has the Winchester logo.
Barrel Length: 16 1/2”
Sights/Optics: The front sight is brass beaded blade with protective hood dovetailed into a serrated ramped base that is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a U-notch leaf with an elevator piece that is dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. The top of the barrel has a male dovetail for mounting an optic (not included).
Stock Configuration and Condition: Two-piece checkered wood with a banded forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and checkered synthetic buttplate. There are a few little specs of stubborn dried preservant on the forearm. Otherwise, there is no significant wear and the checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The length of pull is 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the plate. The plate shows a few light marks along the edges and the checkering is sharp. Overall, the stocks rate in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is scattered faint erosion nearer the muzzle.
Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 99% of its finish. The metal surfaces show no significant wear. The action shows faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp and all markings are clear. Overall, the rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lever action is smooth. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: This rifle comes in its original serial matching box with a hammer spur.
Our Assessment: The Winchester 9422M Trapper is a late-era lever action rifle that makes the best of the storied functionality and dependability of the rifles that came before it. The rifle was manufactured starting in 1998 and going until 2001. With its 16” barrel, this rifle is an ideal choice for those new to shooting, or for parents that want their children to begin taking the responsibility of being a shooter. It would also make for a terrific little rifle to take out small pests with. With its high condition, bright bore, and smooth action, this rifle will provide many more decades of shooting fun.
