Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COLT MARK IV/SERIES ’80 / GOVERNMENT MODEL – 380 AUTO”. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number. The barrel is marked “CAL. 380”. The left of the trigger guard is marked with “VP” in triangle at the rear and “B” at the front, the right is marked “Y”.

Sights / Optics: The pistol is mounted with a square notched rear sight dovetailed into the slide and a short ramped blade front sight integral to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black plastic with Rampant Colt medallions. There are a few light handling marks and a faint little scratch on the rear edge of the right panel. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Fine-Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Stainless, Polished Flats and Matte Rounds
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some very faint erosion scattered about.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are a few light scratches and draglines, most notably on the polished flats and the front straps. There is a streak of faint staining on the left side of the slide andthe top. The grip screws are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a total of two 7-round magazines. The mags show minor wear, in about Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This is a nice Colt Series 80 .380 Government Model single-action pistol that has seen some only light use. It is in about Fine-Plus condition with about 96% of its finish remaining. It is a relatively small pistol and just about perfect for concealed carry. We are old school and like the idea of being able to carry a pistol cocked and locked for a single action trigger pull on the first shot instead of the mushy trigger pulls required for some of the small plastic pistols being made today. Also, with its all steel frame and slide, it will easily absorb the recoil of the hottest .380 A.C.P. rounds. Although the .380 Government Model is an ideal carry gun, it is no longer being made, and this always makes the collectors take notice. Please see our photos and good luck!
