Our Assessment: The original Trooper was a heavy-barreled version of the Officers Model Match and was based on Colt’s medium I frame. It was offered in .22 Long Rifle and .38 Special chamberings. Manufactured with fine carbon steel, it was available in both blued and nickel-plated finishes. This example was produced in 1980 and is in great shape, save for some fairly characteristic Nickel wear. It looks for all the world like a contemporary firearm desperately seeking to ape the aesthetic and functional quality of better firearms. But it is that better firearm, a sturdy and dependable Colt as lovely on display as it is in the hand. Even weight distribution, a powerful cartridge, this revolver is a knockout, and ready for a place in your collection. Get to plinking Good luck and happy bidding!
