Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “P. BERETTA – MADE IN ITALY / 20 GA. 2 ¾ AND 3 IN. SHOT SHELLS – 28 IN.” and “V25538F”. The right side of the barrel has the Warning address, “ALLOYED CR. MO. QUENCHED HIGH TENSILE STEEL”, several specifications, three Italian proof marks, and “BL” date code. The bottom of the barrel is marked “115043”. The left side of the receiver is marked “P. Beretta”, “PB” in an oval, “AL390 GOLD MALLARD-20 GA”, two gold inlaid waterfowl taking flight, and “PATENTED” at the rear. The right side of the receiver is marked “P. Beretta / Made in Italy”, the serial number at the rear, and with a gold inlaid waterfowl. Both sides of the receiver show foliate scroll engraving. The bottom of the receiver has three Italian proof marks and a date code.

Barrel Length: 28” Vent Rib

Choke: The barrel is threaded for interchangeable chokes. Currently installed is a Beretta Skeet choke. No additional chokes are included.

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a full length vent rib with silver bead at the muzzle. The rib is finely checkered and the top of the receiver is serrated to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered wood with a grooved forearm, steel capped pistol grip, straight comb, and a black Beretta buttpad. There are some tiny nicks and draglines throughout the forearm. The buttstock shows similar defects in less frequency as well as a notable scratch on the bottom of the right side near the belly. The checkering is sharp and there are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approx. 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber butt pad. The butt pad is firm with light rub wear. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion. There are some streaks of extremely faint fouling.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The receiver area is very clean, and the jeweled bolt is also very clean. There is some minor thinning at the muzzle. There are some faint hardly noticeable marks on the bottom of the barrel. The screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a beautiful Beretta AL390 Gold Mallard semi-automatic shotgun. This shotgun is in beautiful condition, having obviously been very well cared for over the last 25 years.
