Our Assessment: This Swedish Mauser is a Model 1938 Short Rifle. It was made by Husqvarna back in 1943. It was originally made in M38 configuration. It is not a cut down & converted M96 (Model 1896/38) as many are. The metal has been refinished so the rifle looks pretty good for being over 80 years old. The markings are deep and include matching part numbers on the receiver & bolt assembly. The rifle is chambered for the flat shooting 6.5×55 cartridge. It should keep you smiling at the range. Good luck.
